The vastness of the Universe does not need to be proved. Numerous planets and galaxies have been discovered all this while. But we are still exploring and finding new things every day. In a recent study, the scientists have found a new monster black hole. The study was published in the Science journal. This black hole is being assumed to be the biggest one that has been discovered yet. The initial assessment of its size puts it at the size of about 7 billion suns. The diameter of the sun is reported to be 864,400 miles and the sun is also 109 times the size of Earth. The unique thing about this black hole is that it too big for its own galaxy.

A black hole can be thought of as a place in the space where the gravity pull is so much that even the light cannot come out of it. Since there is no light there, it has been termed as a black hole. The reason behind the gravity being high there is because the matter is packed up in a very tiny space. Since, everything with mass has its own gravitational pull; the matter is responsible for the gravity inside a black hole. The other fact about these holes is that the naked eyes cannot see them. Only the space telescopes equipped with special tools can spot them. The black holes can differ in size greatly. They can be small or big. But the black holes that have mass more than the mass of 1 billion suns are known as Supermassive and a supermassive black hole at the center of the galaxy is said to be Sagittarius.

The newly found black hole has been named CID-947 and it was first discovered through the NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory and W.M. Keck Observatory. It was revealed that the gas around the black hole moves very fast because it is a space object with very large size. Professor Megan Urry of the Yale University said that the finding had surprised all of the team members. She added, “This project specifically targeted moderate black holes that inhibit typical galaxies today. It was quite a shock to see such an enormous black hole.” The researchers were so surprised at the results that they had to confirm with the other scientists and take help of the scientists who were not involved in the study to see whether the reading were accurate or not.

The new findings are in direct contradiction to the widespread belief that the super-massive holes and their host galaxies grow at the same pace.
