President Obama signed the ESSA (Every student succeeds act) in to the law. This is a bipartisan bill meant to replace the old one – No Child Left Behind.

Children are the future of a country and so they deserve success of their dreams irrespective of their race and background.

Keeping this in view, President Obama signed the ESSA (Every student succeeds act) in to the law. This is a bipartisan bill meant to replace the old one – No Child Left Behind. The new law is expected to cut down standardized tests that are unnecessary. It also aims at getting rid of the traditional “one-size-fits-all” rules of the schools.  The new law will ensure that each and every child getting out of the high school is college and career ready. Thanks to this law, now the high-quality educational programs of the state schools will be available to more and more students.

After signing it, President Obama also took to Facebook to talk about its significance for students, teachers and parents.

The law has been specifically designed to give equal opportunity to every student to be successful:

  • Holds all students to high academic standards.
  • Prepares all students for success in college and career.
  • Provides more kids access to high-quality pre-school.
  • Guarantees steps are taken to help students, and their schools, improve.
  • Reduces the burden of testing while maintaining annual information for parents and students.
  • Promotes local innovation and invests in what works.

Since the Obama government came into dominance, the nation has made historic progress including more students completing their graduation on time, and at the same time the dropout rates have reduced by huge margins. This new bill will further strengthen this progress.

Also under President Obama, a number of big investments have been made in favor of students including simplification of the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The new College Scorecard is providing students with right tools to make best out of college.

This October, the “Better Make Room Campaign” was launched by the First Lady that aimed at leveraging new as well as traditional media platforms for inspiring students throughout their educational journey.
